CNC Milling: Precision Machining Process

CNC milling is part of the so-called machining manufacturing processes. In machining processes, material is removed by separating small chips in order to produce a desired shape. CNC milling is based on the use of automated and computer-controlled CNC machines (Computerized Numerical Control), which manufacture workpieces with high precision using modern control technology. Among others, WSM manufactures high-quality precision milled parts for the aerospace industry, food industry, plant engineering and medical technology.

WSM: Contract CNC Milling in Baden-Württemberg

Our decades of experience in sheet metal processing and our extensive know-how enable us to provide you with expert advice on all aspects of CNC milling and the mechanical processing of laser-cut parts and to deliver flawless results. In addition to CNC milling of individual parts or milled parts, we process laser blanks, sheet metal bending parts and welded assemblies in a particularly cost-efficient manner. We also offer mechanical processing of laser-cut parts in higher quantities, for example to add countersinks, threads or fits to various components.

The WSM Sites in Reutlingen and Wehingen

By using state-of-the-art CNC milling technology, we are able to offer customized solutions for the diverse requirements of our customers – from prototypes through to series production. Our two production halls with modern CNC milling machines are ideally located to efficiently handle CNC milling inquiries throughout Baden-Württemberg and southern Germany.

Our Focus in CNC Milling

The use of efficient CNC milling machines enables us to manufacture workpieces with the highest demands on accuracy and complexity. Thanks to automation and the ability to achieve cutting speeds of up to 10,000 RPM, CNC milling offers economic advantages, particularly in series production. As part of CNC milling, we process a wide range of materials such as:

Steel, stainless steel, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, plastics

Our high-performance CNC milling center provides a maximum working area of 1060 x 600 x 600 mm, offering us great flexibility in part production. A key feature of our CNC milling machine is the 60-fold automatic tool changer, which ensures minimized setup times, continuous machining of complex parts and increased productivity.

Common areas of application for CNC milling at a glance

  1. CNC milling of laser blanks, sheet metal bending parts and welded assemblies (more cost-efficient than standalone milled parts).
  2. Mechanical processing of laser-cut parts in higher quantities, e.g. adding countersinks, threads and fits.
  3. Milling of individual parts or milled parts.

In addition to series production, we also use CNC milling in toolmaking. This enables us not only to design punching tools, but also to manufacture them in-house. This shortens production cycles and increases our flexibility.

Advantages of CNC Milling

  1. Highest Precision: Computer-controlled milling movements ensure exceptional accuracy and repeatability.
  2. Complex Geometries: Production of sophisticated parts without manual intervention.
  3. Material Variety: Suitable for a wide range of materials and shapes.
  4. Efficiency: Optimized production processes through automated workflows.’
  5. Cost-Effectiveness: Ideal for individual parts and small series thanks to minimized setup times.
