WSM: Your Design and Development Partner for Assemblies

In the fields of design and production planning, we act as a full-service design and development partner. WSM experts, for example, were involved from the outset in the development of a complex stainless steel welded assembly for a customer in cleanroom technology: from initial planning and prototyping to series production. Simply provide us with your design data, and we will transform it into a precisely manufactured assembly that fully conforms to your drawing specifications. Together with you, we optimize your assemblies with regard to production processes, ensuring WSM’s familiar quality: fast, reliable, and straightforward.

WSM: Contract Manufacturing of Assemblies in Baden-Württemberg

We manufacture assemblies from steel, stainless steel, or aluminum. For our welded assemblies, we employ various welding techniques, including MAG, MIG, and TIG welding, as well as stud and spot welding. As our welded assemblies also meet complex requirements, they can be extensive in scope. Our decades of experience and expertise enable us to advise you comprehensively on all assembly challenges and deliver flawless results.

WSM sites in Reutlingen and Wehingen

At our sites, we produce sheet metal assemblies from steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. These are fabricated, among other methods, using robotic cells for assemblies with weld nuts and weld studs (semi-automated welding).

Complex welded assemblies made of stainless steel and aluminum, such as trays for medical technology or frames for cleanroom and pharmaceutical technology, are also no problem for us.

For the sanitary sector, we primarily manufacture assemblies made of brass or non-ferrous metals.

Our two production facilities are ideally located to efficiently handle assembly inquiries throughout Baden-Württemberg and southern Germany.

The Differences Between Assemblies and Welded Assemblies

Assemblies or Modular Assemblies

An assembly is a self-contained unit composed of at least two parts or subordinate assemblies. These parts are joined through assembly processes and can generally be disassembled. Assemblies are essential for the construction and operation of machines and systems, as they structure and organize the individual components of a system.

Welded Assemblies

In this specific type of assembly, the various components are joined by welding. Unlike modular assemblies, welded assemblies cannot be disassembled without destruction. They are particularly robust and durable, making them ideal for applications in various industries, such as machinery & plant engineering or the automotive sector.

Our Steps in Assembly Production

In assembly manufacturing, individual parts are combined into high-quality mechanical, electrical or combined systems. Depending on the assembly, different assembly methods are used, which are carried out manually, semi-automated or fully automated on optimized assembly lines.

  1. Adjusting: Precise alignment of components to ensure maximum accuracy.
  2. Bonding: A joining process that enables a permanent connection and offers uniform force distribution without affecting the material.
  3. Riveting: Ideal for thin sheet metal, subdivided into solid riveting, blind riveting and punch riveting.
  4. Welding: Permanent joining through local heat input that fuses the materials together.
  5. Inspection: Our quality management ensures that all quality requirements and tolerances are met.

Benefits of Assemblies

As essential components of complex systems, assemblies enable modular assembly, which simplifies manufacturing and maintenance processes and increases flexibility. In the event of a failure, often only a single assembly needs to be replaced instead of dismantling the entire system. This not only reduces downtime, but also minimizes maintenance and repair costs.
