When long-term partnerships grow, they often lead to the most exciting developments. This is also reflected in our collaboration with voestalpine: We have taken over additional production volumes in sheet metal manufacturing and continue to further expand the existing projects together.
The starting point was the customer’s decision to restructure a previously in-house production area and transfer related manufacturing volumes to an external partner. For voestalpine, this means a targeted focus on its core structures; for WSM, it represents the expansion of a long-term partnership within a demanding industrial environment.
Transferring Existing Production with Structure and Experience
At the center of the collaboration is the transfer of existing sheet metal components and their integration into WSM’s production organization. The focus is not on developing new products, but on ensuring the reliable continuation of established components while maintaining defined quality and process standards.
WSM contributes many years of experience in the transfer and stabilization of existing serial production processes. The goal is to implement transitions in a structured manner, maintain stable production processes, and ensure consistently high product quality.
High Vertical Integration as the Basis for Process Stability
Production takes place at the WSM sites in Reutlingen and Wehingen. Both locations are actively involved in manufacturing and contribute to the structured implementation of the transferred production volumes.
The technologies used include:
- stamping and forming processes
- laser and punch laser technology
- bending cells
- robotic welding cells and spot welding processes
- automated machine solutions from TRUMPF
Further information on the technologies used can be found in the overview of our technology expertise. This combination of technology, manufacturing depth, and process reliability has formed the foundation of our expertise in modern sheet metal manufacturing for many years — ranging from structured serial production to complex assembly solutions. We operate with short coordination paths, clear responsibilities, and closely interconnected process steps.
Added Value Through Long-Term Industrial Collaboration
The project strengthens our production base across both sites while simultaneously expanding our expertise in strategic production transfers and complex existing product portfolios. For us, this collaboration is an example of how long-term partnerships can be continuously developed through stable processes, technical expertise, and a shared understanding of reliable industrial manufacturing.
