New Deep Drawing Capabilities Through a Hydraulic Press with Draw Cushion
As part of the strategic partnership with voestalpine, we are expanding our machine park at the Reutlingen site with a hydraulic press featuring a draw cushion. The system will be used for the production of existing customer components while simultaneously opening up new opportunities for WSM’s own component business.
Expanding the Machine Park Through Targeted Technologies
With the integrated draw cushion, we now have access to a technology that enables deep drawing operations with controlled material flow. In contrast to conventional forming processes, the shaping process is not achieved through an abrupt force impulse, but through a continuous and controlled drawing movement of the material. This makes it possible to manufacture components that could previously only be produced to a limited extent or not economically with the existing machine park. The new press is a valuable addition to the existing stamping and forming systems and expands the technological capabilities in the field of deep drawing. In particular, more complex geometries and new deep drawing operations can now be implemented with high precision and process stability.
Expanding the Product and Component Portfolio
The expansion of our machine park enables us to offer a broader range of deep-drawn components in the future. This creates new potential for additional parts and applications, such as deep-drawn housings, functional formed parts, or components with higher requirements regarding dimensional accuracy and surface quality. The technology allows us to strategically expand our product portfolio and implement new deep drawing requirements in an economically efficient and process-reliable manner. The combination of process stability, material protection, and reproducible quality creates a solid foundation for profitable series production.
Manufacturing Expertise at WSM
By integrating the hydraulic press, we are strategically expanding our technological capabilities in deep drawing and sustainably strengthening our machine park at the Reutlingen site. The new system complements existing stamping and forming technologies while creating additional possibilities for demanding customer projects — from prototype production to series manufacturing. In doing so, we continue to strengthen our manufacturing expertise in sheet metal processing and create the foundation for implementing future deep drawing requirements with even greater flexibility, efficiency, and solution-oriented precision.
